ACADEMIC BACKGROUND - With a strong background in art and design, Sabrina Phillips attended Texas A&M University where she graduated 3rd in the College of Architecture with a Bachelor of Environmental Design in 1995. While attending Texas A&M University, Sabrina received numerous scholarships and awards including the Texas Society of Architects/ Edward John Romieniec Endowed Scholarship and election to Who's Who in American Universities and Colleges. Sabrina continued her education at the University of Arizona in Tucson where she received both a Bachelor of Architecture and a Master of Architecture degree with an emphasis in design theory and graduated with a 4.0 GPA. During her time at the University of Arizona, Sabrina was an instructor for two History of Architecture classes and served as the College of Architecture Representative on the Graduate and Professional Student Council.

PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND - In 1996, Sabrina began working as a designer for Durrant Architects in Phoenix where she worked with the Director of Design on several schools, post offices and libraries in Arizona. When she relocated to Tucson, Arizona, she continued working on institutional projects as a Project Architect at Merry Carnell Schlecht Inc. Shortly after receiving her Master's degree, Sabrina began working as a designer for Burlini/Silberschlag, LTD. where she gained experience working on commercial site planning, mall renovations, retail shopping centers, and office buildings. After completing the Architecture Registration Exam under the California Board, Sabrina relocated to San Diego in April of 1999 and joined David T. Lorimer Architect and Associates as a Project Manager. At DTLA, she managed projects ranging from development housing to 9,000 sq. ft. high-end custom residences. After receiving an excellent opportunity to live and work abroad, Sabrina moved to Sydney, Australia in September of 1999. While living in Sydney for nine months, she worked as a contract architect on a variety of project types including the large-scale Pacific International Waterfront Resort and several corporate interiors projects. After returning to the US, Sabrina took a short contract position as a Senior Design Architect for a firm in Las Vegas where she designed a prototype 41,000 SF recreation center. During this time she gained Certification by the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards. She then took a position as a Project Manager / Design Architect for The Steinberg Group in San Jose, California. For three years, she designed mainly Civic Projects including the Camden Community Center for the City of San Jose which is currently under construction. When it is complete it will be one of the first LEED Silver certified buildings in the area. In 2003, Sabrina was a lead Design Architect on the Gensler/Steinberg Group Project Team for the new $2.6 billion San Jose International Airport. In January 2004, Sabrina moved back to Sydney Australia and joined the firm Conybeare Morrison as a Senior Design Architect. In July 2005, she was promoted to an Associate of the firm. After completing several major projects at CM+, Sabrina decided to focus on sustainable design and is now a Director of EcoDesign International.

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT - Sabrina is a member of the Royal Australian Institute of Architects. For the past 10 years she was a member of the American Institute of Architects and in January 2004 she finished serving on the Executive Board of Directors for the Santa Clara Valley Chapter (as a Director in 2002 and as Secretary in 2003). She is a member of the Education Committee for the Green Building Council of Australia, a member of the United States Green Building Council and is a LEED Accredited Professional. While in Northern California, Sabrina was a member of Bay Area Young Architects and the San Francisco Outdoor Adventure Club. Previously she served on the Design Committee for Habitat for Humanity in Tucson. She was also an active volunteer for the Tucson Medical Center as well as the Humane Society of Southern Arizona.
